Ghanaian audiologist, hearing-health advocate and CEO of KRISPAT Hearing Centre Ghana Ltd, Rev. Dr. Christian Kwetey Kweitsu, has earned international recognition after being honoured for Excellence in Audiology Practice at the 100 Most Influential Persons Awards – Africa.
The prestigious ceremony was held on September 25, 2026, at the M Hotel in Kigali, Rwanda, bringing together personalities from across Africa who have made notable contributions in professional, business, leadership and community development.
Rev. Dr. Kweitsu’s recognition shines a spotlight on his more than 23 years of work in hearing healthcare, including hearing assessment, hearing-aid services, industrial audiometry and hearing-conservation programmes.
Beyond his clinical work, the audiologist has also dedicated himself to educating the public about hearing loss and the importance of seeking professional help.
In 2025, he published Amplifying Life: A Comprehensive Guide to Hearing Aids – Understanding, Choosing and Caring, a book designed to help people understand hearing loss, hearing-aid technology, choosing suitable devices and caring for them.
His contribution also extends to academic research. In 2020, he completed an MSc in Audiology at the University of Ghana, with a dissertation examining attitudes towards the use of hearing aids among people with hearing impairment in Accra.
Rev. Dr. Kweitsu has also been involved in community hearing-health initiatives. In March 2026, KRISPAT Hearing Centre conducted a hearing-health screening programme at Regworld Training Center in Apowa–Kejabril in the Western Region, providing ear examinations alongside education on hearing conservation and preventive ear care.
The Kigali recognition therefore represents more than a trophy. It highlights a career that has combined professional practice, research, public education and community outreach to improve awareness of hearing health.
For Ghana, the honour also puts the work of a local hearing-health professional on a wider African platform and draws attention to the importance of early detection, hearing care and reducing the stigma associated with hearing impairment.
As Rev. Dr. Christian Kwetey Kweitsu celebrates this latest achievement, his journey continues to demonstrate how specialised professional work can create an impact far beyond the consulting room.
