President Mahama Meets Boeing Officials as Ghana Moves to Re-establish National Airline

President John Drama Mahama has held discussions with officials of the Boeing Group as Ghana steps up efforts to re-establish a national airline.

The Boeing Group is supporting Ghana in the proposed project, with preliminary studies reportedly affirming the viability of establishing a new national carrier.

During the meeting, a roadmap for setting up the airline was agreed upon, outlining key steps towards making the project a reality.

These include identifying a strategic airline partner and a technical partner, securing an Air Operator Certificate (AOC), selecting an appropriate fleet and determining the financing arrangements for the acquisition and operation of aircraft.

The Boeing delegation assured President Mahama of its continued support throughout the establishment process and the eventual operations of the airline.

The proposed national carrier is expected to boost the utilisation of Ghana’s improved airport infrastructure and advance President Mahama’s vision of positioning Accra as the leading aviation hub in West Africa.

Beyond strengthening Ghana’s aviation industry, the project is also expected to create thousands of employment opportunities for pilots, cabin crew, aeronautical engineers and aviation management professionals.

The re-establishment of a national airline is part of President Mahama’s broader efforts to strengthen Ghana’s aviation sector, improve air connectivity and unlock economic opportunities.
