President Mahama Applauds Shai Osudoku District Hospital for Excellence, 10 Years After Commissioning

DODOWA, Ghana, 15 April: President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has commended the Chief Executive Officer and staff of the Shai Osudoku District Hospital for their dedication and commitment, which has positioned the facility among the best-maintained hospitals in the country.

According to the President, a decade after its commissioning, the hospital continues to demonstrate excellence in healthcare delivery and facility management.

Speaking at the hospital in Dodowa during the official launch of the Free Primary Health Care Programme, President Mahama recalled commissioning the facility during his first term in office and expressed satisfaction with its sustained performance over the years.

“For those of you who don’t remember, 10 years ago on 4th April, in my former incarnation as president, I commissioned this hospital and I’m happy to note that the hospital is still doing very well. It is one of the best kept hospitals, the CEO is here,” he said.

President Mahama further noted that the hospital has earned international recognition for its outstanding maternal and child healthcare outcomes, particularly its record of zero maternal and infant mortality over several consecutive years.

“It’s one of the best kept hospitals and it has gained global fame beyond the borders of Ghana. It won consecutively safe motherhood, zero maternal mortality and infant mortality for several years and so because of their reputation, they are victims of their own success. People come from outside their catchment area, from as far as eastern region to come and either deliver here or seek medical assistance here,” he stated.

He praised the hospital’s staff for their exemplary service and urged them to sustain the high standards they have set, while encouraging other health facilities across the country to emulate their model.

“So to all the staff, I say Ayekoo for the great work you’re doing, medical director and all your staff. Ayekoo, well done. We hope you continue to maintain the standard that you have and we hope that all health facilities in Ghana will come and emulate the example that you have set,” he said.
