Port City FC Secure Dynamic Winger Stephen Diyou on Permanent Deal

In a significant boost to their squad-building efforts ahead of their maiden campaign in the Ghana Premier League, newly promoted side Port City FC have finalized the permanent acquisition of talented young winger Stephen Diyou, AhotorSports can exclusively confirm.

The 22-year-old attacker, known for his blistering pace, sharp dribbling skills, and ability to deliver pinpoint crosses from the flanks, arrives with a growing reputation as one of the most promising wide players to emerge from Ghana’s domestic scene in recent years.

This move marks yet another strategic addition for the Harbour Boys, who are determined to make a competitive impression in the top flight following their dominant promotion-winning season in the Access Bank Division One League.

Diyou’s journey to this point has been one of resilience and steady progression. Born on December 12, 2003, the nimble-footed Ghanaian began turning heads during his time with Nsoatreman FC, where he featured prominently in the Ghana Premier League and even contributed in continental competitions like the CAF Confederation Cup.

His performances for the club included memorable goals and assists against established sides such as Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, showcasing his flair and composure under pressure.

Tragically, Nsoatreman faced dissolution following a heartbreaking incident involving the death of a fan, which scattered their squad and forced many talents, including Diyou, to seek new opportunities.

A brief stint abroad with Nigerien top-flight outfit Sahel SC followed in the 2025/26 season, providing Diyou with valuable exposure to a different style of play and competitive environment. However, the move proved short-lived, paving the way for a return to Ghana when Hohoe United secured his services on a long-term contract earlier in 2026.

At Hohoe, he continued to impress with his direct style of play, adding dynamism to their attack during a challenging campaign that saw the club navigate the Premier League while dealing with managerial changes.

Now, Diyou’s permanent switch to Port City FC represents a fresh chapter, reuniting him with top-tier football in his home country while offering him a platform to shine on a bigger stage.

For Port City FC, this signing aligns perfectly with their ambitious preparations for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season. Based in the Eastern Region but with strong ties to the Greater Accra area, the club stormed to promotion from Zone Three of the Division One League, clinching the title with games to spare thanks to an outstanding, consistent campaign marked by defensive solidity and clinical attacking transitions.

Under the guidance of experienced head coach Christopher Ennin, who joined from FC Samartex, Port City are assembling a blend of youthful energy and seasoned know-how. Diyou fits seamlessly into this vision as a player capable of stretching opposition defenses, creating scoring chances, and injecting unpredictability into the wide areas—qualities that could prove vital as they face the step-up in quality and intensity that the Premier League demands.

The deal, completed on a permanent basis, underscores Port City’s proactive approach in the transfer market.
