The ace broadcaster believes that, the Covid-19 pandemic has really affected Ghanaian clubs and without government support, lots of clubs will wind up.

He has therefore called for a stimulus package for our local clubs in order to help clubs with their salary payments and daily administration in these difficult moments.

On the issue of pay cut for our local players, he said that’s impossible as local players earn close to nothing with some earning less than $100 per month so it will be inappropriate to cut down their salaries.

Last month, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kurt Okraku assured clubs that his outfit is working to ensure that Government considers football clubs in the disbursement of the Covid-19 stimulus package.

The FA President in a letter addressed to clubs, called for calm as he explores all avenues that will ensure they have their share of the funds.

Last week, the Head of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports and Culture and MP for Mpohor, Honorable Alex Agyekum, also hinted that Sports will get a share of government’s Covid-19 stimulus package. This is part of government’s release of funds to distressed organisations amid the Covid-19 pandemic from the $600 million stimulus package.

Football in Ghana has been suspended since March after government imposed a ban on all public and social  gathering.
