Manchester United have been dealt a significant setback with the news that their versatile fullback Patrick Dorgu will be sidelined for approximately 10 weeks due to a hamstring injury.
The 21-year-old Danish international picked up the problem during the closing stages of United’s impressive 3-2 victory over league leaders Arsenal last Sunday at the Emirates Stadium.
While chasing a long ball in the second half, Dorgu felt discomfort in his hamstring, received treatment on the pitch, and was eventually forced off. He had earlier contributed impressively to the win, scoring a superb half-volley from just outside the box to help secure the three points.
Initial hopes from manager Michael Carrick were that it might only be cramp, but subsequent scans have confirmed a more serious hamstring issue. According to reports from The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell, the injury is expected to keep Dorgu out for around 10 weeks, ruling him out for roughly the next two and a half months.
The blow is particularly tough for Manchester United given Dorgu’s strong form since joining the club from Lecce in February 2025. The physical, hard-running defender—capable of playing as a full-back, wing-back, or even further forward—has quickly become an important part of the squad, bringing energy and versatility to the backline.
This timeline means he is likely to miss United’s upcoming eight fixtures or so, with a potential return after the March international break—possibly in time for the home match against Leeds United on April 11.
