The establishment of the Office of the Special Prosecutor has brought some new energy in fighting against corruption in the country, though there are some challenges needs to be address the office has done a significant work in this direction in fighting corruption.

There is a need for the government to invest in all anti corruption intuitions established by an act of law in the country to fight corruption to benefits the country and control the adverse effects the corruption is having on national development.

The Co-Chair of the Citizens Movement Against Corruption Edem Senanu said this on Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor 92.3 FM hosted by Nana Dogbey in Accra.

The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, addressed journalists on November 29, expressing grave concerns over the increasing trend of dismissive rulings in corruption cases. He warned that this could lead to dire consequences for the country’s anti-corruption efforts.

In another development, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, during proceedings in Parliament on, stated that the law establishing the OSP was an act of futility.
The Co-Chair of the Citizens Movement Against Corruption Edem Senanu, is of the view that he disagree with the speakers position, since fighting corruption is a process and we must review his work and look at what we can do to improve his position to fight corruption, which is really eating into national financial position.
However, during a debate ahead of the approval of an amount of GHS149 million for the services of the OSP for the year 2024, the Deputy Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, charged the Special Prosecutor not to give up on his work.

He reiterated that, the OPS must initiate a move to engage the Judicial Service and the Chief Justice on what their collaboration can help to fight corruption devoid of mockery the institution is facing before the public.

This he believes will help not to undermined our efforts the OSP has made; by stretching arms through network and partnership, on national corruption cases that can help the state to achieve the purpose and vision on which the office was established.
