Award-winning gospel musician Obaapa Christy has officially unveiled her maiden flagship worship event, Royal Praise, marking a significant milestone in her illustrious music career spanning more than two decades.
The grand launch took place on June 12, 2026, at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, where the celebrated gospel singer announced plans to host the concert in both Accra and Kumasi. The event joins the growing list of major gospel gatherings in Ghana that have become annual platforms for worship, praise, and spiritual revival.
The Accra edition of Royal Praise is scheduled for August 9, 2026, at the UPSA Auditorium and will feature renowned gospel ministers including Empress Gifty, Joyce Blessing, Uncle Ato, Celestine Donkor, Akesse Brempong, and Kwaku Gyasi.
A week later, on August 16, 2026, the Kumasi edition will take place at The Church of Pentecost, Bantama, with performances from Brother Sammy, Mama Esther, Ernest Opoku, Joyce Blessing, Quame Gyedu, and Lady Prempeh.
Speaking at the launch, Obaapa Christy revealed that the vision for Royal Praise was born after her 20th-anniversary celebration in 2022. According to her, years of planning, prayer, and preparation have finally culminated in the realisation of the dream.
She explained that the concert is designed to bring believers together in an atmosphere of worship while celebrating their identity as God’s royal priesthood.
To reflect this theme, attendees are expected to dress in royal attire, inspired by the biblical scripture in 1 Peter 2:9.
“Royal Praise is not just another concert. It is a gathering of kings and queens before the King of Kings,” she said, emphasising that the event will create a unique opportunity for worshippers to experience God’s power, grace, and love.
