The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is uninformed about the 24 hour economy espouse by the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama.
The economy policy which seeks to turn around the economy in creating enabling environment for job creation for the unemployed youth in the country is been undermined by the entire leadership, as a result of lack of understanding of the policy.
The Member of Parliament for Amenfi West Hon. Eric Afful stated this on Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor 92.3 FM hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu in Accra.
Reacting to The comments of the Upper East Regional Minister in reaction to JM’s much-welcomed 24-hour economy proposal “What does a 24-hour economy have to do with farming at night and sleeping or not sleeping with wives at night; was very unfortunate and bizarre that, the NPP government and his team have lost touch with the reality going in the country.
John Dramani Mahama, 24 hour economy policy is to position the country with strategy to revamp the service industry and other sectors of the economy that will addressed the major social security threat of youth unemployment confronting the country.
The Member of Parliament for Amenfi West Hon. Eric Afful, opined that, the economy can be turn around, efficient good security system, tax rebates, tax exemption for companies who have the capacity to benefits from the policy of the 24 hour economy.
He reiterated that, the policy is an agenda for the NDC to revolve the economy around which is crippled with debt, and huge deficit indebtedness on all our external loans. And there is a need for the NDC to think outside the box towards how the economy will be revamp when he comes to power.
