NDC’s ProForum initiates a campaign for mobilizing votes in the Greater Accra Region.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Professionals Forum (ProForum), an activist group aligned with the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has launched a strategic initiative in the Greater Accra Region to mobilize votes and gather resources in preparation for the party’s 2024 election campaign. The event, named “Constituency Community Connect (CCC) Greater Accra,” was marked by a ceremony at the NDC headquarters in Adabraka, where key committees were inaugurated to oversee fundraising and campaign activities.

During the ceremony, the President of the Greater Accra Region chapter of ProForum, Prof. Vincent Kodzo Nartey, led the proceedings with a focus on the theme “Harnessing resources for victory in election 2024 and beyond.”

Dignitaries, including guest speaker Professor Joshua Alabi, National Vice-Chairman of the ProForum, and Amb. Sam Pee Yalley, National President of ProForum, highlighted the significance of the event in planning for the upcoming elections.

The launch included the inauguration of two pivotal committees, the Fundraising and Campaign Committees, tasked with mobilizing funds and coordinating the CCC program in the region.

Professor Joshua Alabi acknowledged the ProForum’s contributions since its formation in 2018 and emphasized the importance of mobilizing resources and votes for a successful 2024 election campaign.

He said, “the upcoming elections would not be easy, therefore, it was prudent for the ProForum to have taken the initiative to gather resources and embark on a series of campaigns to mobilise votes to ensure success for the party.”

“I have said that this election is for us. It has been given to us by God and we need to protect it. The Greater Accra Region will determine who wins the next election and I am very happy that we are mobilising and planning,” he said.

According to him to protect this victory, the force from the Proforum will help the NDC them.

Prof Alabi added that, “Today’s event is very important for all of us. It is vital for the NDC to support this election campaign initiative. It helps to cover cost of campaign, promote our candidates, organise events, engage with voters and I think that it is timely.”

He made it known that the NDC is planning to train over 80,000 competent agents who will be tested.

He was however quick to add that, the 80,000 will be an addition to the old guys on the field.

He also told the NDC Proforum to have confidence in the youth affiliated to the party.

His Excellency Sam Pee Yalley, the National President of ProForum, highlighted that in the previous elections, the Greater Accra Region was recognized as the top-performing region in securing seats for the party in Parliament.

The ProForum expressed pride in its substantial contribution to this success. Yalley assured that in the upcoming elections, ProForum is committed to providing not just human resources but also essential materials for the campaign. This commitment stems from a clear understanding of the pivotal role that the Greater Accra Region plays in securing victory for the NDC in the 2024 elections.

He emphasized, “Our goal is to establish the coastal areas as the second world bank of the NDC. It is imperative to recognize the wealth of intellectual capital within our party. Over the past five years, we have consistently demonstrated that we are not in competition with anyone. Our charter is unequivocal – to wholeheartedly support the party, a commitment we will unwaveringly uphold.”

Furthermore, he stated, “We have committed to providing the flagbearer with two million Ghana cedis (2m). We will fulfill this commitment as we understand the challenges posed by the absence of COVID funds or agyapadie.”

In his address, he raised a crucial question, “Why should the NDC face accusations of election losses due to the absence of qualified polling agents? This should never re-occur. We have gathered a pool of high-caliber human resources within the NDC, ready and prepared to engage in any terrain to ensure our polling agency is impeccably efficient.”

Looking ahead, Prof. Vincent Kodzo Nartey, President of the Greater Accra Region chapter of ProForum, outlined the forum’s determination to address economic challenges and continue collaborating with constituency leaders for success in 2024.

Prof. Nartey made it kown that, “In 2020, we successfully organised the CCC in five constituencies where we recorded massive successes and we will continue to engage and collaborate with constituency leaders to ensure success for the party in 2024.”

The ProForum, comprising 178 professionals, including doctors, lecturers, and teachers affiliated with the NDC, has set ambitious goals for the upcoming elections, including financial contributions to support the party’s campaign.
