The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) will officially launch the Agricultural Education Transformation Fund (AETF) on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the Palms by Eagles Hotel in Accra. The Fund has been established to provide sustainable financing for agricultural education, skills development, innovation, mechanisation and agribusiness enterprise development in Ghana.
According to the Ministry, the AETF is a national endowment fund designed to strengthen agricultural education by mobilising long-term investments to support teaching, practical training, research, innovation, infrastructure and entrepreneurship across agricultural education institutions. Unlike one-off grants, the Fund will preserve its capital while using annual investment returns to finance priority programmes.
MoFA disclosed that GH¢3.5 million has already been committed towards the Fund, with an initial endowment target of GH¢10 million and a long-term goal of GH¢100 million by December 2028. The Ministry said the Fund will support practical learning, mechanisation, research, technology development, faculty development, scholarships and institutional strengthening across beneficiary institutions.
The Ministry acknowledged the contributions of the Coalition of Agribusiness Partners, whose support it said has been instrumental in bringing the initiative to fruition. It noted that the partners’ commitment reflects a shared belief that transforming agricultural education is essential to Ghana’s agricultural and economic development.
The launch is expected to bring together representatives from government, academia, development partners, financial institutions, agribusinesses, farmer organisations and the private sector to demonstrate their collective commitment to building a sustainable financing platform for agricultural education.
MoFA has invited all stakeholders to support the Agricultural Education Transformation Fund, stressing that sustained investment in education and human capital is critical to building a stronger, more innovative and resilient agricultural sector in Ghana.
