Mission Paediatrics will partner with Ahotor FM to provide general paediatric and developmental screening at the station’s free health screening exercise scheduled for Friday, September 18, 2026.
The exercise, under the theme “Your Health, Our Priority,” will be held at the forecourt of Ahotor FM at Lashibi from 8:00 a.m. and is open to the public.
Speaking on Ahotor FM’s morning show on Thursday, September 10, Ida Allotey of Mission Paediatrics said a team of doctors, nurses, speech therapists, behavioural therapists and other health professionals will participate in the exercise.
She said Mission Paediatrics specialises in neurodevelopmental care and uses a multidisciplinary approach to assess and support children with neurological and developmental challenges.ik
According to her, the facility provides services including general paediatric care, neurocare, speech therapy, occupational therapy, behavioural therapy, physiotherapy, dentistry, optical services, psychology, psychiatry, dietetics and nutrition, genetic counselling and special educational needs services.
Ms Allotey encouraged parents and guardians to bring their children for screening even when there are no obvious health concerns, saying early checks can help identify developmental issues that may require further assessment or intervention.
“Even if you don’t have any particular complaint and you just want a general check, bring the child. That is the purpose of the screening exercise.”
She also encouraged parents of older children, including those in upper primary and the teenage years, to take advantage of the exercise, noting that health and developmental concerns can emerge at different stages of childhood.
The wider Ahotor FM health exercise will also offer free eye, ear, general medical, paediatric and developmental screenings, including screening for autism.
The initiative is being supported by Mission Paediatrics, Eyedan Eye Care Centre, Banahene Specialist Hospital and Krispat Hearing Centre (GH) Ltd.
The public is therefore encouraged to visit the Ahotor FM forecourt at Lashibi on Friday, September 18, from 8:00 a.m. to access the free services and benefit from early health checks and professional guidance.
