The Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) has dismissed allegations of political bias in the disbursement of loans, insisting that beneficiaries are selected based on eligibility rather than political affiliation.
Deputy Chief Executive Officer of MASLOC, Vivian Owusu Asante, says the institution follows established criteria in assessing applicants to ensure that qualified individuals can access financial support for their businesses.
According to her, political affiliation is not a determining factor in the loan allocation process, as the Centre remains focused on supporting eligible traders and small-scale entrepreneurs.
As part of its support for small businesses, MASLOC has disbursed GH¢4 million to 200 traders operating across various markets in the Ashanti Region.
The financial assistance is intended to help beneficiaries strengthen their businesses, improve their operations and expand their economic activities. The intervention also seeks to support traders who require funding to sustain and grow their enterprises.
MASLOC says its loan programmes are aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and improving access to financial assistance for small businesses. The Centre’s position is that the disbursement process is guided by eligibility requirements rather than political considerations.
