The Director-General of the National Service Authority (NSA), Ruth Dela Seddoh, has stated that President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to empowering the youth for national development remains firm and unshaken.
According to her, it is crucial for young people to demonstrate civility and actively align themselves with the national development agenda.
She emphasized that government’s focus on youth development is a top priority and forms the foundation of every development initiative.
To address this, Madam Dela Seddoh disclosed that government has introduced a Basic Military Training scheme as part of the National Service programme. She revealed that the Ministry of Finance has released GH¢40 million to support the implementation of the scheme. She explained that the training is designed to make the youth more patriotic and nationalistic.
The NSA boss added that the Authority has already engaged students in various tertiary institutions to introduce the programme and to instill in them the spirit of volunteerism and patriotism. She noted that the initiative will also help deepen discipline among young people.

She stated that the military is widely recognized as a highly disciplined institution and its involvement will positively impact the youth undergoing the training. She underscored the importance of discipline and patriotism in every aspect of national life, stressing that Ghana needs young people who are committed and loyal to the nation.
She concluded that the curriculum for the training has been well-planned and thoroughly thought through, aimed at grooming a disciplined, ethical and conscientious generation of youth for national development.
