Member of Parliament for Efutu constituency in the Central region, Hon Alexander Afenyo-Markins is calling on flagbearers of both governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama to meet for discussions on the LGBTQ+ bill before its passage.
He indicated that, he intends to engage the sponsors of the bill to get deeper into some consensus on the amendment he proposed in parliament.
According to the Deputy Majority leader, he need emphasis respectively that, no attempt was so ever is been made by him to stale this all-important bill.
Speaking on the floor of parliament, the legislature indicated that, he has proposed in his letter to parliament that it’s important for the two flagbearers for the 2024 elections to meet the sponsors of the bill and him (Afenyo-Markins) for engagement.
He said this will give them more understanding of the said bill before its passage so that, after the elections they will know how to go buy things without seeing anything strange in the bill.
