We must jealously guard our democracy in all level of electoral contest devoid of all kinds of financial and materials inducement that can prevent credible and excellent human expertise who are been denied the opportunity to serve in the public office as a result of unfair advantage people are using money for votes to win elections in the country.

The Member of Parliament for Asante Akyim North Hon. Andy Appiah Kubi, said this on Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor 92.3 FM hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu in Accra.

He bemoans that, though there is a public perception that, there is so much money to offer yourself to serve in parliament, looks to be unconvincing, since it takes hard work as a member of parliament to explore other source of income to compliment the income earns from parliament.

He reiterated that, the trend of financial support from established state machinery to assist people in most internal parliamentary contest must be checked, this culture of vote buying which is destroying and threatening the fairness in our parliamentary elections is very sad and disturbing.

He opined that, most of his colleagues has lost their seats since most of them can not faced and matched the financial inducement most of their contenders has initiated to buy most of the delegates in the past New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary elections.

Above all experience hands has lost their position to the highest bidder and if care is not taken most of the people that will occupy the parliament could be candidates without any credibility.

There is a need for a concerted effort from the political parties and the democratic institutions to come out with a road map that can help to fight this social canker of money in vote buying and any forms of inducement to help protect the credibility of any future elections in the country.
