Lecturer at Pentecost University, Dr Alexander Amo–Baffour, has successfully filed to contest the National Vice Chairmanship position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the party’s upcoming internal elections.
His entry into the race is anchored on the theme, “Knowledge. Experience. Grassroots Commitment,” with a proposed focus on strengthening party structures, promoting unity, improving internal coordination and increasing grassroots participation in decision-making.
Dr Amo-Baffour is an economist, researcher and academic lecturer whose areas of professional and academic interest include economic development, international business, foreign direct investment and productivity.
He holds a PhD in Management Science and Engineering from Hohai University in China, an MBA in Finance and Investment Management from the London School of Business and Finance, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Ghana.
His background also includes engagement in public policy, governance, grassroots mobilisation and labour productivity advocacy, areas his campaign identifies as relevant to the organisational development of the party.
The campaign has outlined four priority areas for his proposed leadership role: stronger grassroots participation, organisational development, inclusive leadership and unity, and knowledge-driven engagement.
On grassroots participation, the campaign proposes stronger connections between party members at the branch, constituency, regional and national levels and the party’s leadership, with greater attention to their involvement in decision-making.
It also places emphasis on accountability, effective party administration, internal coordination and institutional capacity, while advocating cooperation and respect for diverse opinions to strengthen unity within the party.
Another key component of his campaign is the application of research, economic knowledge and productivity-oriented thinking to discussions on the party’s development and national policy direction.
The campaign says his bid goes beyond securing a national executive position and is intended to contribute to building a more organised, inclusive and responsive political organisation.
Dr Amo-Baffour is seeking the support of party executives, delegates, grassroots members and other stakeholders as the NDC prepares for its national leadership elections.
His campaign is being advanced under the message: “Knowledge. Experience. Grassroots Commitment.”
