Hearts of Oak’s Communications Director, Kwame Opare Addo, has assured that the club is working diligently to settle the outstanding debt of $150,000 owed to former technical director René Hiddink.
The club is currently serving a transfer ban imposed by FIFA due to the unpaid debt, which has hindered their player recruitment efforts
Hiddink, who joined Hearts of Oak in 2023, left the club after just eight months following the termination of his contract without full payment. He subsequently lodged a complaint with FIFA, leading to the transfer ban.
Opare Addo emphasized the club’s commitment to fulfilling FIFA’s directives, stating, “Hearts of Oak isn’t reluctant to settle our debt with René Hiddink.” Despite Hiddink escalating the issue to a Ghanaian court, the club remains focused on resolving the matter
Hearts of Oak currently sit sixth in the Ghana Premier League table with 18 points from 11 matches, and resolving this debt is crucial to their ambitions this season.
