Hearts of Oak Board Inspects Hearts Africa Football Academy ahead of Pre-Season, Academy Restructuring The Board of Directors of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club on Sunday, 5 July 2026, conducted an inspection of the club’s state-of-the-art technical centre at Kpobiman as preparations intensify for the new football season.
The visit was aimed at assessing the current state of the facility, identifying areas requiring immediate attention before the return of players for pre-season, and reviewing progress ahead of the implementation of the club’s restructured academy system.
Once fully operational, the Hearts Africa Football Academy will serve as the permanent home of Hearts of Oak’s youth development programme, accommodating the club’s Under-19, Under-17 and Under-15 teams.
The integrated academy model is expected to provide a seamless pathway for player development, making Hearts of Oak one of the first Premier League clubs in Ghana to establish such a comprehensive residential academy structure.

The facility boasts a wide range of world-class amenities, including a 108-bed dormitory for academy players, residential bungalows for key technical staff such as the Sporting Director and Head Coach, a modern gymnasium, swimming pool, golf course, tennis court, padel court, basketball court, a mini stadium, two natural grass training pitches and an artificial turf pitch equipped with floodlights.
Beyond its role as a training complex, the Kpobiman project is also set to become the administrative headquarters of the club. The current administration, which operates from the Commercial Centre, will relocate to Kpobiman as part of the club’s vision of creating a fully integrated sporting and administrative hub where all football operations are conducted from a single location.
Speaking during the inspection, the Executive Board Chairman and Majority Shareholder, Togbe Afede XIV, described the Hearts Africa Football Academy as a landmark investment that should make every Hearts of Oak supporter proud. He expressed satisfaction with the progress made and the overall condition of the facility but stressed the importance of regular maintenance to preserve its quality and long-term value.
He urged the club’s management, led by Managing Director Julius Ben Emunah, to institute a robust maintenance culture to ensure the facility remains in excellent condition. Togbe Afede XIV further assured fellow board members that the club remains committed to completing the remaining phases of the project.
These include the construction of the on-site hotel, completion of the event centre, finishing works on the various sporting courts, completion of the mini stadium, dressing rooms for the training pitches, and other ancillary infrastructure required to transform Kpobiman into a fully-fledged football and sporting complex.
He noted that once completed, the facility will stand as one of the finest football development centres in Ghana and provide an ideal environment for nurturing the next generation of Hearts of Oak players. Members of the Board who participated in the inspection included Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa, Akwesi Agyeman, Vincent Sowah Odotei, Samuel Inkoom, Alhaji Hussein Sulemana, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, Managing Director Julius Ben Emunah, and Executive Board Chairman Togbe Afede XIV.
