GTA to adopt AI to enhance domestic tourism experience – CEO.

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) is set to adopt Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance the domestic tourism experience.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Akwasi Agyeman, said this forms part of an agenda to fully digitalize the sector.

Mr. Akwasi Agyeman also stated that there must be deliberate action to put the tourism sector on the front burner of government policy because of its potential to be a key driver for national development.

He said in most instances, tourism was treated as the last item on the budget, and that there was a need to rethink its role and potential contribution to the economy.

At the Graphic Business/Stanbic Bank Breakfast Meeting at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra yesterday, Mr Agyeman said last year alone, tourism contributed about $3.3 billion to the economy, adding that a deliberate action to mainstream tourism in government policy could help to generate even more foreign exchange for the country.

That, he said, could be done by addressing the challenges facing the industry to propel its growth.

“Let’s mainstream our tourism for development as part of the national conversation,” he said.
