GoldBod Signs GH¢8.4 Million Agreement with GWL to Rehabilitate Water Supply Systems

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has signed a GH¢8.4 million agreement with Ghana Water Limited (GWL) to rehabilitate three major water supply systems in the Western and Central Regions.

The project will focus on the rehabilitation of the Bonsa, Daboase and Sekyere Heman Water Supply Systems, with the aim of restoring water production capacity and improving reliable water delivery to communities served by the facilities.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi, Esq., said the Board conducted an independent technical assessment before approving the project.

He said the intervention reflects GoldBod’s commitment to promoting responsible mining, environmental sustainability and supporting initiatives that improve the living conditions of Ghanaians.

Mr. Gyamfi noted that access to sustainable water supply is critical to national development and that the partnership with Ghana Water Limited demonstrates the importance of collaboration in addressing key infrastructure challenges.

The Managing Director of Ghana Water Limited, Adam Mutawakilu, expressed appreciation to GoldBod for the timely support, explaining that the project will help address operational challenges that have affected the water systems over the years.

According to him, the rehabilitation works will restore water production and enhance service delivery to communities that depend on the facilities.

The partnership forms part of efforts to strengthen public infrastructure while promoting environmental responsibility and sustainable development.

GoldBod said the collaboration with GWL underscores its commitment to investing in solutions that protect the environment and improve essential services for communities across the country.
