GoldBod Made GH¢5.4bn Overall Surplus in 2025 – Sammy Gyamfi

ACCRA, Ghana, 19th August: Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has rejected claims that the institution recorded losses from its gold-trading operations in 2025.

According to Mr Gyamfi, GoldBod’s audited financial statements for the 2025 financial year show that the institution recorded an operational surplus of GH¢907 million and an overall surplus exceeding GH¢5.4 billion.

Speaking at the Government Accountability Series on Wednesday, August 19, Mr Gyamfi said the figures were contained in GoldBod’s audited annual report and financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2025.

He said the financial statements, which were audited by the Auditor-General, provided a clear account of GoldBod’s financial performance and contradicted claims that the institution had suffered losses from its gold-trading activities.

Mr Gyamfi was responding to concerns raised by Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who has repeatedly questioned GoldBod’s financial performance and the management of its gold-trading operations.

The GoldBod CEO maintained that the Auditor-General had full access to the information and documentation required to conduct the audit, including documents requested from management and responses to queries raised in the Management Letter.

He further stated that no adverse audit finding was made against GoldBod in the Auditor-General’s 2025 audit report.

Mr Gyamfi therefore challenged Mr Afenyo-Markin to substantiate his allegations, urging the media and the public to rely on GoldBod’s audited financial statements when assessing the institution’s financial performance.

He stressed that GoldBod remained committed to transparency and accountability in the management of Ghana’s gold resources.

According to him, the institution’s objective is not only to strengthen Ghana’s position in the gold market but also to ensure that the country derives greater value from its mineral resources.
