Ghana’s Non-Traditional Exports Reach Record GH¢5 Billion in 2025 – Trade Minister + {AUDIO} 👇

Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, has announced that Ghana’s Non-Traditional Export (NTE) sector recorded a historic performance in 2025, generating a record GH¢5 billion in export earnings.

According to the Minister, the figure represents a remarkable 30.7 percent increase compared to the previous year, underscoring the growing competitiveness and resilience of Ghana’s export sector.

Speaking at a town hall meeting in London during a working visit with President John Dramani Mahama, Mrs. Ofosu-Agyare attributed the impressive growth largely to the strong performance of the processed and semi-processed foods sub-sector.

She disclosed that processed and semi-processed food products contributed GH¢3.09 billion to the total export earnings, representing a significant 52.78 percent increase over the 2024 figure.

The Minister noted that the achievement reflects the increasing capacity of Ghanaian businesses to compete effectively in international markets and capitalize on emerging export opportunities.

Mrs. Ofosu-Agyare further highlighted the Ministry’s collaboration with the Bank of Ghana to improve the operating environment for exporters. As part of these efforts, the period for the repatriation of export proceeds was extended from 60 days to 120 days, a move aimed at easing financial pressures on exporters and enhancing their competitiveness.

She expressed confidence that the government’s continued support for the private sector, coupled with strategic policy interventions, would further boost export growth, industrialization, and job creation across the country.
