Ghana has returned to IMF due to NPP’s reckless borrowing spree- Hon Okletey Terlabi

Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo constituency in the Eastern region, Hon Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi has indicated that, the country returned to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for help because of the reckless borrowing of Nana Addo-Bawumia led government.

According to him, the current administration in 2016 promised heaven and earth that they are not going to borrow to governed but, they have been the worse in terms of borrowing since independence.

Speaking on Adekye Nsroma monitored by Onokwafo Yaw Asiedu, the legislature said the NPP always oppose implementation on new taxes when in opposition but turned back to do worse anytime the get the nod to rule this country.

He emphasized on, the famous kumepreko demonstration against the former NDC administration led by J. J. Rawlings when implementing VAT, but what is happening now in the country as the same people are in charge, he asked.

He talked the Energy Sector Levy (ESLA) introduce by the NDC saying the government has expand it and also collateralized for other benefits.

Hon Terlabi said the energy sector is suffering because finance minister Ken Ofori Attah has failed to pay suppliers.
