Former NAGRAT boss backs Mahama to abolish licensure exams
Former President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Kwame Alovi has backed former president Mahama’s plan to abolishing licensure exams in the next NDC government.
According to him, he considers the current licensure process to be politically motivated.
Speaking to Citizen Kofi Owusu this morning on Adekye Mu, he explained that, before the New Patriotic Party (NPP) came to power, teachers who completed tertiary education were posted automatically.
During the ‘Building Ghana Tour’ in the Bono Region, former President Mahama vowed to abolish the licensure exams, arguing that subjecting teacher trainees to an additional assessment for qualification was unnecessary.
Mr Alovi explained that, it is not fair to deny teachers postings simply because they failed a 2hours licensure exams whiles they’ve already gone through 4 or 3years of vigorous training.
“You are given 2hours or less hours of examination and if you don’t pass, the four years that you’ve been trained is wasted, this is not fair”
