FECAFOOT Cancels All Soccer in Cameroon

PWD Bamenda Declared Cameroonian Champs

The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has today, May 12, decided to end all Professional Championship activities in the country for the 2019 – 2020 season:

The under listed divisions are affected by the decision:

• Elite One

• Elite Two

• National First Division Women’s Football

• National Youth Football Championship

As a result, PWD Bamenda who were leading the top-flight (28 out of 34 games played) are declared champions and will play in the CAF Champions League.

PWD Bamenda declared Cameroonian champions

The decision comes as FECAFOOT conforms to the strict measures outlined by the Cameroonian health authorities as they battle to fight the rising cases of the corona virus in Cameroon.

On March 18 2020, the Bureau of the Executive Committee of the Cameroon Football Federation suspended all its competitions i.e friendly matches, Professional Championship, Women Championship, Amateur Championship, Youth Championship, Cameroon Cup, Beach Soccer and Futsal across the country.

This means all soccer activities for men, women and youths are cancelled with immediate effect following today’s decision. This puts to an end a two month wait for Cameroonian football lovers.

Cameroon has produced lots of great players like Roger Milla, Rigobert Song and Thomas Nkono and Samuel Eto’o. Eto’o last month distributed food and other supplies to 100,000 people to support efforts to combat corona virus in the country.

The West African country currently has confirmed cases of 2,579, with 1,465 recoveries and 114 deaths.

Meanwhile in Ghana, soccer pundits and lovers eagerly await the decision of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
