“Ejisu NPP Primary: Vitus Azeem Urges Kwasi Nyantakyi Not to Contest If Conscience Prevails”

Anti-Corruption Campaigner Vitus Azeem has urged Kwasi Nyantakyi, the former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), to reconsider his decision to run for the forthcoming NPP Parliamentary primary in the Ejisu constituency.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that it will hold a parliamentary primary on Saturday, April 13, 2024, to elect a candidate for the Ejisu constituency by-election.

This decision comes after the unfortunate passing of Member of Parliament (MP) and Deputy Finance Minister, John Ampontuah Kumah.

The parliamentary seat in Ejisu became vacant following the passing of Member of Parliament John Kumah.

While acknowledging that current laws do not prohibit Nyantakyi’s candidacy, Azeem asserted that it would raise moral questions for him to pursue the position.

The anti-corruption advocate emphasized that despite any ongoing investigations or prosecutions, the shadow of corruption allegations would persist, advising Nyantakyi to carefully consider the ramifications before entering the by-election.

He added also that should Kwasi Nyantakyi win the Ejisu seat, the dent of corruption will resurface any time he gets any government appointment in the future.
