ECG smart meter challenge: affected customers should be compensated – Kojo Nsafoah

An Energy Analyst, Kojo Nsafoah Poku has backed calls for customers to be compensated if there is a proof which can be established that one’s system as a result of the inability to buy credit has caused some level of damages

He indicated that, there are laid down procedures at PURC to people who report to them the damages caused and compensations given accordingly

Mr Nsafoah urged Ghanaians to support the managing director of ECG, Samuel Mahama to help solve the issue at hand as probing into the alleged hacking of system has commenced

Speaking in an interview with the media, October 4, 2022, he indicated that, if it turns out the challenge came as a result of some people’s selfish interest then they should be made to face the law

“… if it turns out that it is people who do not want their dubious deeds to be exposed than the law should take it’s course and whatever losses they should be surchaged with those losses

“We are not in a country where we will condone some of this reckless behavior “

This comes after some ECG prepaid consumers were left in the dark after a technical challenge affected the purchase of credits for their meters
