EC must be forthright to help investigate the missing of the BDV machines –Dr Hassan Ayariga

It appears there are serious concerns regarding the missing biometric verification devices in Ghana, with both political figures and stakeholders expressing worry over the potential implications for the integrity of the upcoming December elections.

Dr. Hasan Ayarigah, the flagbearer of the APC, has highlighted the gravity of the situation, emphasizing that the missing devices, if in the wrong hands, could compromise the election process. He stresses the importance of these devices in ensuring voter verification and preventing electoral fraud such as multiple voting and voter impersonation.

The Minority in Parliament, led by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has urged law enforcement agencies to act swiftly in investigating the disappearance of the biometric devices. They are concerned about the potential consequences of these devices falling into unknown hands and the possibility of them being misused to influence future elections.

The situation underscores the critical importance of maintaining the integrity and security of electoral processes, especially in the face of technological vulnerabilities and potential threats to democracy.

Efforts must be made to locate the missing devices promptly and ensure that necessary safeguards are in place to prevent any compromise of the electoral system. This incident also highlights the need for robust security measures and transparency in the management of electoral equipment to uphold the credibility of democratic processes.
