Dr. Thomas Anaba blames the government for crucial medical supplies stuck at Tema Port

Dr. Thomas Anaba, who runs the African Center for Health Policy Research and Analysis, said it’s really sad that important medical stuff is stuck at the Tema Port because the government hasn’t figured out how to clear them. He thinks this shows the government isn’t doing a good job.

He said this delay is causing big trouble for Ghana because the Global Fund stopped sending important medical things because of the hold-up at the port. These things are super important, like medicine for people with HIV/AIDS.

Dr. Anaba is super worried because the government isn’t doing anything to speed up getting these supplies out. He said it was urgent and even when important people from the Global Fund came to visit, nothing got better.

Lots of other groups are worried too, like the Ghana AIDS Commission and some other organizations that focus on diseases like HIV, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. They’re so upset about the long wait for the medical supplies that they’re planning a big protest on April 17th.

Dr. Anaba talked about it on Ahotor 92.3 FM‘s Newsroom. He said it’s not fair that the government gives tax breaks to some people, but can’t figure out how to do the same thing to clear the medical stuff at the port. He’s also wondering why the government spent so much money on the Pwalugu Dam without even starting construction.
