Desist from unlawful entry to the forest….forestry commission cautions the general public

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 21 March the International Day of Forests (IDF) in 2012. The Day celebrates and raises awareness of the importance of all types of forests.

On each International Day of Forests, countries are encouraged to undertake local, national and international efforts to organize activities involving forests and trees, such as tree planting campaigns.

The theme for each International Day of Forests is chosen by the Collaborative Partnership on Forests. The theme for 2024 is “forests and innovation.”

Speaking with Asomdwehene Philip Kwabena in an interview, the District Manager of Forestry in Asante Bekwai Mr. Ernest Adofo emphasized that there has been technological improvements in their work, using of drones to verify the illegal activities going on in the forest with the aim of protecting our forests in the country.

Mr. Ernest Adofo added that constructors with concession are allowed to cut trees and are to replaced them, but those without concession are illegal dealers and they are to face the law.

He finally said that anyone who is willing to do plantation can come to their office for permit and technical advice on how and when to start.
