Daddy Bosco Urges Shatta Wale, Samini and Kwabena Kwabena to Stop Chasing Hits

Vice Chairman of the Ghana Culture Forum, human rights activist Bosco Ocansey, popularly known as Daddy Bosco, has advised established Ghanaian artistes, including Shatta Wale, Samini, and Kwabena Kwabena, to stop putting pressure on themselves to constantly produce hit songs.

According to Daddy Bosco, the artistes have reached the stage where they should see themselves as legacy acts and focus more on building lasting brands beyond music.

He explained that musical trends are temporary, and no artiste can remain at the top forever. He therefore believes established artistes should focus on the impact they have already made and use their influence to create sustainable businesses and ventures.

Daddy Bosco cited legendary highlife musician Kojo Antwi as an example, noting that although he may not regularly release chart-topping hits, he continues to command major shows because of the legacy he has built over the years.

He also praised Okyeame Kwame for successfully extending his brand into other areas beyond music. He mentioned Reggie Rockstone’s Rockz Waakye and Tic’s pizza business as examples of artistes turning their fame into other ventures.

Commenting on Shatta Wale, Daddy Bosco acknowledged his work with Shaxi and encouraged him to continue expanding the Shatta Wale brand.

He further pointed to American rapper Jay-Z, who has built a business empire through investments and ventures in areas such as fashion, technology, entertainment, and luxury brands.

Daddy Bosco, who also serves as Director of Projects at MUSIGA, believes Ghanaian artistes who have attained legacy status should concentrate on creating businesses and opportunities that can sustain their names and influence long after their music careers.
