The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has completed its mandatory payment obligations to bondholders affected by the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP) for 2026, following the settlement of GH¢2.306 million.
In a statement, COCOBOD said the latest payment amounted to GH¢2,306,372.09, bringing the Board’s total payments to DDEP bondholders for the year to GH¢2,682,582,282.18.
The Board explained that an earlier coupon payment of GH¢376,325,910.09 was made in March 2026, which formed part of the payments made to bondholders under the DDEP.
The latest settlement comes after COCOBOD also paid GH¢162 million in July 2026 to holders of Cocoa Bills who did not participate in the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme.
According to the Board, the July payment brought its outstanding financial obligations to the affected non-DDEP Cocoa Bill holders to a close.
COCOBOD said the payments demonstrate its commitment to responsible financial management and the systematic settlement of its financial obligations, as part of broader efforts to strengthen the financial sustainability of Ghana’s cocoa sector.
The Board said the process is being undertaken under the guidance of the Ministry of Finance, with the aim of ensuring that its financial obligations are addressed in an orderly and sustainable manner.
COCOBOD has consequently reaffirmed its commitment to working with bondholders, investors and other cocoa industry stakeholders as it continues efforts to strengthen the financial position and long-term sustainability of Ghana’s cocoa sector.
