Faouzi Benzarti has left his post as the head coach of Libya following the end of his contract with the Libya Football Federation. On 25 October 2019, Benzarti was reappointed as coach of the Mediterranean Knights in a six-month renewable contract, following his first spell between 2007 and 2009.
The veteran Tunisian coach’s first task was to lead Libya in two Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against his native Tunisia on 16 November and Tanzania three days later. In the two matches, he lost 4-1 loss to Tunisia and beat Tanzania 2-1.
Benzarti replaced Jalal Damja, who resigned after losing to Tunisia in the 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying match.
