NDC communication member, Chriss Asher, has called on all aspirants within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to put their personal political ambitions aside and focus on supporting the government to deliver on its mandate.
Speaking during a discussion on Ahotor FM’s morning show, Chriss Asher referenced a recent interview granted by Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang to KSM, where she stressed the need for the government to focus on delivering the Reset Agenda.
According to Chriss Asher, the Vice President’s comments should serve as a wake-up call to all NDC aspirants, particularly those already positioning themselves for future elections.
He said with the government approaching two years in office, the focus must now be on delivering the reset promised by President John Dramani Mahama to the people of Ghana rather than engaging in premature campaigns for the 2028 elections.
He noted that all aspirants seeking various positions in the next election would ultimately depend on the legacy and achievements of President Mahama’s administration.
«“We are nearly two years in office. We have to focus on the reset that the President promised the good people of Ghana because all the aspirants will ride on the legacy of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama,” he said.»
“There is work to do. That is the focus,” Chriss Asher added, urging all aspirants to rally behind President Mahama and contribute to the success of the administration.
He said party members must “put our shoulders behind the wheel” of President Mahama to ensure that the government achieves its objectives and delivers on its promises to Ghanaians.
Chriss Asher further appealed to all potential aspirants to concentrate on their respective constituencies and strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
“This is the time for constituency,” he stressed, urging aspirants to work within the structures of the party and adhere to the party’s principles and directives.
He cautioned against what he described as unnecessary national-level political noise and premature campaigning, stressing that discipline and unity within the party would be critical to securing victory in the 2028 general elections.
According to him, if members remain united, support the government and focus on delivering for the people, the party would be better positioned to win the 2028 election.
Chriss Asher therefore appealed to all aspirants to “come down,” exercise patience and allow the government and party structures to work, insisting that the time for intense electoral contest would come.
He maintained that the NDC’s immediate task should be to strengthen the party, support the government and serve the interests of Ghanaians before turning attention fully to the next election.
