BEYOND CREATION Exhibition Brings Ghanaian Art and Global Cultural Exchange to Accra

Accra has become a meeting point for art, culture, and spirituality as the BEYOND CREATION: Humanity, Nature and Spirituality — A Universal Message exhibition opens to the public.

The private opening, held on October 4, 2026, brought together artists, cultural and arts institution leaders, members of the diplomatic corps, government representatives and other key personalities within Ghana’s creative industry.

Among the distinguished guests was H.E. Laura Ranalli, Ambassador of Italy to Ghana and Togo, whose presence highlighted the growing cultural relationship between Ghana and Italy.

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts was also represented by Dr Fio Richardson Commey, Special Aide to the Minister.

The exhibition features 40 artists, approximately 90 per cent of whom are Ghanaian, placing Ghanaian creative voices at the centre of an international cultural exchange that explores humanity’s relationship with nature, spirituality and the world around us.

One of the participating artists is Jean Esis, who presents “JEAN-ESIS: Chapter One,” a fashion installation that examines consumerism, textile waste and humanity’s increasingly destructive relationship with the environment.

Through fashion and artistic expression, the installation challenges audiences to reconsider how consumption and waste are affecting the world often described as humanity’s “Eden.”

The exhibition also acknowledges the contribution of key Ghanaian cultural institutions. Special recognition has been given to Mr Wakefield Wisdom Ackuaku, Acting Executive Director of the National Commission on Culture, and Mr Eric Ohene-Larbi, Regional Director of the Centre for National Culture, Greater Accra, for their support and institutional collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in making the exhibition possible.

Curated by Nuna Adisenu-Doe and Andrea Walter Ghia, BEYOND CREATION seeks to go beyond conventional artistic expression by bringing together different perspectives on humanity, nature and spirituality.

The exhibition is currently open to the public at the Accra Art Centre and will run until November 4, 2026.

With Ghanaian artists making up the overwhelming majority of participants, BEYOND CREATION offers a significant platform for local creative voices while creating opportunities for international cultural dialogue through art.
