Bawku Conflict: Edudzi express distress over displacement of women and children

The Director of Legal Affairs for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, has lamented the displacement of women and children in Bawku due to the deadly armed conflict.

Highlighting the dire consequences, he emphasized that the conflict is preventing children in those communities from accessing proper education.

“The situation there is extremely delicate and for me, the greater pain I have is the displacement of women and children. It has been extremely difficult for children within those communities to even have proper education now by reason of this armed conflict.” He said.

Former Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North, Fuseini Issah, also weighed in on the issue calling on stakeholders to facilitate the coming together of the feuding parties for an amicable resolution.

He expressed concern over the prolonged nature of the conflict, emphasizing its toll on innocent lives.

“We should get the factions to agree to be able to put this conflict behind them because it has been raging on for generations. If at one point we are unable to bring it to finality, we will continue having people lose their lives,” remarked Fuseini Issah, urging the people in the affected area to recognize the necessity for a conclusive resolution.
