Ghanaian rapper Awal Mohammed has reaffirmed his admiration for award-winning rapper Sarkodie, describing him as his biggest inspiration while expressing hope that they could work together on a song when the time is right.
Speaking on Ahotor Mmre with Obaapa Janee on Ahotor FM 92.3 on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, Awal stated that he has nothing against Sarkodie and continues to draw inspiration from the celebrated rapper.
“Sarkodie is someone I picked inspiration from and he will remain my biggest inspiration. I don’t have anything against him and due time if the time is right for us to do a song together we will,” he said.
His comments highlight his continued respect for the rapper who played a significant role in his early musical journey, despite public discussions about the state of their relationship over the years.
Awal Mohammed first rose to national prominence through TV3’s Talented Kidz, where his impressive rap performances and ability to imitate Sarkodie’s style caught the attention of music lovers.
His talent eventually brought him into contact with Sarkodie, who became a mentor and an important influence on his development as a young musician. Sarkodie supported Awal’s musical journey and education, including helping with his senior high school fees at Mfantsipim School in Cape Coast.
Their relationship also resulted in music collaborations, including the song Keep Feeling It, which strengthened Awal’s association with the award-winning rapper.
Awal later continued pursuing his musical ambitions independently and gained further exposure through his participation in MTN Hitmaker, where he finished as the first runner-up in 2018.
Over the years, questions have emerged about whether Awal and Sarkodie remain on good terms. In July 2025, Awal reportedly appealed to Sarkodie for forgiveness during a radio appearance, expressing a desire to rebuild their relationship.
However, Awal’s latest comments on Ahotor Mmre emphasise that he holds no ill feelings towards the rapper and still regards him as his biggest inspiration.
His willingness to leave the possibility of a future collaboration open suggests that working with Sarkodie again remains a possibility rather than a closed chapter.
For fans of both artistes, a reunion on a song could rekindle memories of their earlier musical connection while introducing Awal to a wider audience.
For now, Awal says he remains inspired by Sarkodie and believes that if the right opportunity comes, the two could work together again.
