Ato Forson Commends Public Sector Workers as Government Agrees to 9% Pay Increase in 2027

Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has commended public sector workers for their contribution to Ghana’s economic resilience following an agreement on remuneration adjustments for 2027 and 2028.

Under the agreement, public sector workers are expected to receive a 9 per cent increase in total remuneration in 2027, followed by a 10 per cent across-the-board salary increase in 2028.

Dr Ato Forson praised workers for their dedication and role in supporting government operations, delivering essential public services and contributing to the country’s economic development.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare while ensuring that salary adjustments remain consistent with efforts to maintain macroeconomic stability.

The Finance Minister’s remarks come amid ongoing efforts by the government and organised labour to address workers’ concerns over salaries, working conditions and the rising cost of living.

The agreed increases are expected to provide a framework for public sector remuneration over the next two years, as government seeks to balance improved compensation for workers with the need to sustain Ghana’s economic recovery.
