Asamoah Gyan has revealed that playing in the Premier League was a lifelong dream come true. The Ghanaian striker joined Sunderland in 2010, scoring on his debut against Wigan Athletic and going on to score 10 goals in 34 appearances.
“It has always been my dream to play in the Premier League. Watching Tony Yeboah, I said to myself that I want to play in the Premier League, so my mind was made up,” Gyan told Rio Ferdinand. Inspired by Ghana legend Tony Yeboah, Gyan chose Sunderland over Stade Rennais, eager to test himself in England’s top flight.
Gyan’s Premier League stint was marked by a strong start, but he later moved to Al Ain on loan and eventually made the transfer permanent.
