Member of Parliament for the Keta Constituency, Kwame Dzudzorli Gapkey, criticized the Sports Minister’s statement on the All Africa Games, saying it was incomplete without detailing the expenses.
According to Gapkey, the Sports Minister should have provided a clear account of the spending at the event.
He called for an audit of the expenditures related to the 2023 Africa Games, hosted in Ghana earlier this year.
This criticism followed Youth and Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif’s praise of the games’ success, which lacked a detailed financial report.
Minority Members of Parliament, including North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, also criticized the Minister for not disclosing how public funds were utilized.
Speaking on Ahotor FM’s morning show ‘Adekyee Mu Nsem’ with host Nana Dogbe, Gapkey emphasized that without a breakdown of the spending, the Sports Minister’s statement remains incomplete.
He noted that expenditures exceeded the approved budget, making transparency crucial.
In response, the Youth and Sports Minister assured that he would provide a full account of every cedi spent on the games.
