Safo Newman burst onto the Music scene unexpectedly with his hit single, “Akokoa,” late last year, quickly gaining traction on social media and amassing a significant number of streams across various platforms.
While some, including rap icon Sarkodie, praise him as “Ghana’s new kid on the block” for his talent and captivating songs, others relentlessly criticize him.
However, the singer, in his early 30s, remains unfazed by the internet trolls. In an interview with the Daily Graphic, Newman acknowledged reading the disparaging comments about his appearance, ranging from being malnourished to unkempt, but he remains undeterred.
He prioritizes channeling his energy into creating timeless music rather than dwelling on detractors’ opinions.
“When it comes to my appearance and the comments people make about it, I’m not particularly bothered,” he said.
“I see it as part of why I stand out. Those negative remarks about my appearance don’t faze me at all. What truly matters to me are the songs I create and the messages they convey, as well as the positive impact I can have on society.”
