ACCESSIBILITY OF HEALTHCARE IN LA AND ITS ENVIRONS REMAINS A CHALLENGE —- KYEI MENSAH BONSU

Accessibility of healthcare in Labadi and its environs will remain a challenge as the redevelopment of demolished hospital is not likely to be completed anytime soon.

Government in 2020 pulled down the Labadi Regional Hospital describing it as structurally defects. A modern 160 bed facility was to be constructed instead but the project has seen little progress.

The minister for Parliamentary Affairs Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu says, the reconstruction has been delayed because the sponsors have withheld of their funds due to the ongoing International Monetary Fund (IMF) program.

President Akufo Addo in August 10, 2020 cut the sod for the commencement of the construction of the LA General Hospital redevelopment project but work is yet to start.

A plead of the LA people that got the MP for Odododioodioo constituency Nii Lantey Vanderpui talking about the inconveniences the pulled down of the hospital has caused the residents.

In reacting to the statement, the majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu outlined reasons for the delay, the commencement of work on the hospital.
