The New Patriotic Party needs a strong base and grassroots support to back their newly elected flag bearer Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia to boast his chances in the 2024 presidential elections. The outcome of the polls putting Dr. Bawumia with 118,210 votes, representing 61.47%, while his closest contender, polled 71,996 votes, representing 37.41%.
This point to the facts that, there are some delegates at the constituency level and at the grassroots don’t trust his candidature to leads the New Patriotic Party (NPP) going into 2024elections.
The Director of Global Info Analytics, Mussa Dankwah stated this on Adekyee Mu Nsem on Ahotor FM hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu in Accra.
He reiterated that, as a candidate you need a strong backing of your people to add value to you as a strong brand. While the outcome of the primaries shows clearly that about 40% of the supporting base of the party disagree with the candidature of Dr. Bawumia.
He opined that, the National Democratic Congress support and trust in the candidature of John Dramani Mahamah, was reflected in their primaries where John Dramani Mahama was declared overwhelming winner after polling 98.9 per cent of the votes while his challenger, former Kumasi mayor Kojo Bonsu, scored 1.1 per cent. This he said the supporting base is very important.
Musa Dankwa, is of the view that, if election were carry out today John Mahama will be above 50%. By all projections this figure can change since have one year to go in for the polls.
He observed that, Alan Kwadwo Kryremanteng going into 2024 elections as an independent is likely going to affects the outcome of the national election and this can come to John Mahama or Dr.Bawumia as positive or negative gains
