Ghanaians are ready for occupy BOG demonstration – Listowel Nana Kusi Opoku

The executive director of Good Governance Advocacy Group Ghana, Mr. Listowel Nana Kusi Opoku, said he was surprised and shocked by the statement going around saying Ghanaians are not angry enough against the ongoing injustice and alleged corruption going on in the country.

He stated that the situation on the ground through their community engagement shows that Ghanaians are not happy and disappointed with the hard economic situation in the country.

This he noted can be attributed to the bad governance and mismanagement of the economy by the New Patriotic Party government. Mr. Listowel Nana Kusi Opoku disclosed this on Adekyee Mu Nsem’s morning show on Ahotor FM in Accra.

He is of the view that community engagement forms part of the grassroots strategy to mobilize 50 million protesters to join the demonstration #Occupy Bank of Ghana.

He believes there is a need for all Ghanaians to come in their numbers to protest against the corruption going on in the country and the country’s bank which has been hit by corruption and mismanagement of the financial malfeasance.

He reiterated that about 89 groups of groups made up of unions, civil service organizations, members of parliament and a number of political parties have registered to take part in the #Occupy Bank of Ghana.
Touching on Alan Kwadwo Kwremanteng’s resignation to contest as an independent presidential candidate is very unfortunate.

He said knowing him as a good politician and fine and gentle he is convinced that, the bad leadership on the part of the president and the party executives, did not manage the internal challenges very well that ensure a free and fair election.

Speaking to the same issue on the platform, the former national organizer of the National Democratic Congress Joseph Akamba, said the reality of economic hardship going on in the country, he supported the demonstration scheduled to take place on the 3rd of October.

He further disagrees with Leader of the Liberal Peoples Party of Ghana (LPG) Kofi Akpaloo, in his opinion disagrees with the organizers of the demonstration #Occupy BOG should stop and rather support the government in all his decisions in managing the economy.

Though the cost of living is very high, the reality going on globally as a result of COVID and other challenges are some of the external shocks that create economic hardship in the country.
