The Ahafo Regional Vetting Committee of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has disqualified the former District Chief Executive, Hon. Christian Oppong Frimpong, one of the aspirants who filed nomination to contest the party’s primaries in the Asunafo South Constituency.
The Committee said Hon. Christian Oppong Frimpong, forged over 25 delegates signatures on his nomination form in qualify him to contest Asunafo Constituency.
Therefore, the Ahafo Regional Vetting Committee of the Party has been left with no choice but to inform him that he was not qualified to contest in the party’s upcoming primaries for the in Asunafo South Constituency.”
The committee has since urged the disqualified aspirant to use party structures to appeal the matter if he so wishes.
This means that the incumbent MP, Eric Opoku, will be contesting unopposed in the 2024 General elections.
Hon. Alhaji Collins Dauda will also be going unopposed in the Asutifi South Constituency.
11 out of 12 prospective aspirants who picked nominations to contest the NDC’s parliamentary primaries in the five (5) out of six (6) constituencies in the Ahafo Region were cleared to contest.
Tano South has been put on hold by party at the national level.
In Asunafo North Constituency, Gregory Kwesi Darkwa approval also has been put on hold for him to produce prove of some documents in his Curriculum Vitae and confirm and date of joining the party.

The Asunafo South Constituency NDC Chairman Hon. Ben Issah said the party has since reported Christian Oppong Frimpong to the Ghana Police Service for investigation of the matter.
Some of the 25 delegates who stormed the vetting grounds to denied endorsing the Hon. Christian Oppong Frimpong also spoke to the media.
