National Chairman of NDC, Dr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has revealed that the late President John Evans Atta Mills set up the Heritage Fund from the country’s oil proceeds to secure the future of generations yet unborn.
Dr. Ampofo said this during an interview he conducted in the aftermath of the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the late President at the Asomdwe Park on Sunday 24th July , 2022.
Mr. Ampofo explain that, the late President, envisage dire consequences of the Country’s proceeds from its minerals storage and so develop a pro poor plan to safeguard it for future benefits.
He said the fund untill recently was the country’s backbone, but the Akufo Addo led Government has dissipated the funds and even gone ahead to spend available resources which have been kept for generations yet unborn.
Unlike, President Nana Addo, who according to Chairman Ofosu Ampofo has surrounded himself with family and friends , same cannot be attributed to late Mills.
Dr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo opined NPP has completely mismanaged the economy badly that, nothing seemed to be working and Ghanaians are witnessing the harsh economic realities since the NDC left office.
