Premier League side Ashanti Gold Sporting Club have lost the statement of appeal they filed against the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Appeals Committee sanctions imposed by the Disciplinary Committee (DC) on grounds of match manipulation.
The GFA’s DC on May 16, 2022, announced its verdict on charges against players and officials of Ashanti Gold for match-fixing of a league match against Inter Allies in July 2021 during the 2020/2021 season.
As a result, Ashanti Gold has been demoted to Division Two by the provisions of the GFA Codes, same as Inter Allies, and also imposed a hefty fine on the club and its officials.
In response to the sanctions, Ashanti Gold stated:
“Ashantigold has reviewed the Decision and being dissatisfied with it, filed a Notice of Appeal against the Decision to the GFA Appeals Committee”.

Ghana FA has set Thursday, August 18 for the next ordinary congress of the body ahead of the start of the next football season.
Congress will approve the demotion and promotion of clubs in the Ghana Premier League (GPL), the National Division One League (DOL), and the Women’s Premier League. Where the congress will officially going to approve AshantiGold SC being relegated to Division two.
