SexForGrade..Ivan Kyei Innocent writes…

There seems to be a huge mismatch between what Prof. Gyampo is being accused of and what he actually did in the much hyped investigative piece released by the British media giant, BBC Africa.

Same way, the mismatch between BBC’s reputation for investigative journalism and the work they did in the trending #SexForGrade piece leaves some of us in a state of incredulity…. i think they could have done a proper job in Prof. Gyampo’s case. What is thrown at us is nothing more than “a well-advertised nonsense” by a reputable media network. Was it driven by sinister motive ? I can’t confirm that !!
But what l can confirm is that, you do not ambush a man’s reputation in a hasty fashion …that’s so so wrong….you require more than chatting with a lady at a mall

Lucky Dube wrote in one of his songs ” it takes million years to build a reputation but will take one stupid fool to shatter all in just a second” and in this case, l can say without equivocation that Gyampo has become a victim of this popular quote…even though I don’t hold brief for him and it’s not in my place to defend him as well but judging from what we have all seen, read and interrogated, I can’t be far from being right.

Gyampo as an individual reserves every right to pursue BBC Africa with all he got to reinstate his near-shattered integrity both in academic circles and in the media, he has the capacity, what he requires now is a passionte anger to redeem himself, I dont expect him to succumb to the usual Ghanaian mantra “leave it to God” …God is too busy to defend anyone in a sex scandal….I’m told Judas is gathering an army to stage coup in heaven and God is really busy preparing in waiting , this should be Gyampo’s own war of reputational redemption and nothing should distruct him from this mission. I will be very disappointed if he doesn’t.

University of Ghana’s decision to interdict Gyampo and one other pending investigations is appropriate and falls within the context of how such scandals are handled in corporate settings even though, without sounding prejudicial, this investigation l believe will fail to establish or build any case of substance with incriminating evidence for indictment unless BBC Africa has some explosive evidence under their sleeves that’s not known to the public at this time. The lady in question in the first place was a fake student and did the good (Prof) change or influence the score marks of this ghost student ? Sexual harassment? Let’s wait!!

But let me state emphatically that I’m no supporter of sexual harassment or blackmail and I will never support any subtle or overt advances on the part of any university lecturer or teacher who exploits ” intellectually compromised or favor seeking female enthusiasts for sexual favors in a qui pro quo fashion, I’m particular about female students because often they are the engineers and some do it so well with cunning sexual appeals practically impossible to resist their charm. After chancing on the picture of the lady used in Gyampo’s case, I can say the gentle Prof must be a Pope to have ended his trailer in an unfinished manner, most men would have killed the show in grand style that’s if hypocrisy is ditched for reality.

The fact is and l have said it many times that our universities are already saddled with several genuine challenges and in recent times have come under a heavy siege of academic inefficiencies where graduates from top Universities are ridiculed and branded as “packaged zombies” without a fit into the job market, corporations prefer to retain retired brains at the expense of fresh graduates who are often seen gallivanting on our city street in search for non-existent jobs. What we should be doing now is finding a fit to bridge the widening gap between academic intelligence and intelligence required at the job market so that our graduates can become useful to themselves and society. Now is not the time to be solving complex equations of who kissed who violently or who slept with who …. !!!

But going forward, at this time and age, people should be careful especially “men” those who have cultivated the habit of sleeping with everything in skirt.
These are a lot of BBC Africa’s kind watching you from miles away…. “welcome to the era of sexual blackmail” try and be more Catholic than the Pope, it’s possible or risk
welcoming yourself into the world of sextortion !!! StayAwke….I’m Ivan, I’m no cynic, still antiquity remains my area of speciality!!!
