The National Democratic Congress has set electoral rules and guidelines for the impending Presidential primaries of the party. The General Secretary Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah flanked by the National Chairman Hon. Samuel Ofosu- Ampofo as well as the other National Executives of the party held a press briefing session on Thursday to enumerates the modalities and roadmap for the said elections.
According to a statement read by the General secretary at the media encounter , the NDC has set 19th January, 2018 for the elections of the flagbearership contest across the entire 275 constituencies nationwide.
Mr. Asiedu Nketiah however stated that the exercise like any other previous internal primaries of the party has rolled out practicable guidelines and strict rules coupled with back door engagements for aspirants who expresses resentment and wish to seek redress, emphasizing that the worst window of opportunity for any aggrieved contestant will be at the law court.
But in a rather clandestine manner he was quick to intimate that it will be in the interest of the party if any of such self centered prepositions and upheavals are settled in an amicable manner without giving it undue embellishments to mar the aftermath of the whole process.
The general secretary similarly noted that concerns about the exorbitance nature of the filing fees is neither here nor there since any person within the party who want to lead the NDC must be of good standing and capable of assisting the less endowed members in the party, and that comparing what their opponent’s in the New Patriotic Party earmarked for payment as filing fees whiles they were in opposition in 2016 , that of the NDC is far better.
Furthermore social Democratic tenets according to the chief administrator in the NDC contended as means of conforming to a certain pattern or system of governance, and does not conform to poverty as it’s been miscounted by many in the country.
He admonished all the aspirants to conduct their campaign devoid of rancor and acrimony in order to sustain the peace and tranquility in the party ahead of the 2020 Polls.
Propose dates for the elections are as follows :
Presidential Primaries is on 19th January, 2019.
1.Notice of elections 29th November 2018.
2. Picking of forms 3rd and 4th December, 2018.
3. Filling 13th and 14th December, 2018.
4. Vetting 17th and 18 December, 2018.
5. Balloting 18th December, 2018.
6. Appeals 18th – 21st December, 2018.
7. Notice of Polls 27th December, 2018 – 3rd January, 2019.
